The opportunity to expand with a state-of-the-art aquatics center was gifted to the Shady Grove YMCA by the family of Tommy J. West. Mr. West was a champion for the YMCA, and he wanted the community to have a place where families could be together in a healthy and wholesome environment.
The aquatic center addition features a natatorium with warm water pool. The recreation pool offers two lap lanes, turtle steppingstones, a shallow play area, built-in bench seating with back massaging jets, under water LED color changing lighting, a water basketball hoop, and a double flume waterslide. Adjacent to the pool is a water garden splash pad. Large windows give the natatorium a bright and warm feeling. Other program spaces include, family locker rooms, steam room and sauna, expanded wellness center, music lesson rooms and massage therapy room.
With the new addition, there is a communal place for families of all ages to make the connection between fitness, wellness, and fun.
