The interior renovation of the gymnasium and adjacent support areas marked the first phase of the master plan implementation at the Southside Community Center, transforming it into a more welcoming and functional space for the community. A new roof and upgraded HVAC equipment were installed, significantly improving the building’s energy efficiency and comfort. As part of the renovation, the outdated and unused locker rooms were removed and reimagined as versatile community meeting rooms, creating flexible spaces that can accommodate workshops, meetings, and events. These improvements have not only modernized the facility but also ensured that it meets the evolving needs of its residents.
A key priority of the renovation was to enhance accessibility and usability. ADA-compliant upgrades were implemented throughout the center to ensure all members of the community can comfortably access and enjoy the space. The reconfiguration also included new administrative staff areas, providing efficient office space to better support operations and programming. The gymnasium received a complete makeover, making it a focal point for recreation, sports, and fitness activities. These improvements reflect the community’s commitment to fostering engagement, offering a variety of spaces where residents of all ages can gather, stay active, and connect.
