Trinity Episcopal School Campus Projects

Creating a new 45,000 square foot Estes Athletic Center, positioned adjacent to the existing fine arts center, serves as a prominent entrance to the Trinity Episcopal School. This project features a primary basketball court complete with seating for spectators, alongside an auxiliary gym suitable for basketball practices, wrestling sessions, and an indoor baseball batting cage. Complementing these athletic spaces are classrooms, administrative offices, and a fitness center tailored for strength training and cardiovascular conditioning. Team locker suites and meeting rooms are conveniently located alongside the athletic training facilities, which include hydrotherapy amenities. Additionally, the mezzanine adjacent to the Alumni Lounge offers panoramic views down into the main gymnasium.
Following the completion of the new athletic center, the Design Team collaborated with programming and schematic design for adaptive re-use of the old gymnasium into the Perkinson Performing Arts and Visual Arts Center. This transformation involved creating new spaces for digital music labs, band and choral rehearsal rooms, and an open visual arts studio.
Adapting the former gymnasium into fine arts studios necessitated meticulous attention to acoustic considerations, both within individual studio spaces and in relation to neighboring rooms. The existing wood flooring was preserved and refinished in the studio areas, while support spaces and select zones received coverings. Flexibility was prioritized in the design of the visual arts studio, accommodating various arrangements beyond fixed locations for potter’s wheels.
The Perkinson Performing Arts Center Addition enhance circulation, fire safety, acoustics, and overall comfort. Its new lobby serves as a focal point for both visual and music art programs, fostering collaborative learning in small groups. The integration of a permanent sound booth and backstage enhancements strengthen the visual arts program, facilitating daily assemblies for the entire student body and staff during Morning Meetings.
