Evonik Industries Business and Innovation Center

Worley Associates assisted one of the world’s leading specialty chemical companies in pre-design services that included space programming and site selection for a Business and Innovation Center. A 1980’s era building was studied and selected for extensive renovation to serve both functions of business administration and numerous types of research and application laboratories.

Programming required collaborative input from several divisions of employee groups. Inner-office dynamics and spatial adjacencies were considered to provide a modern environment that supports impromptu, creative interaction among chemists, scientists, and marketing specialists.

The design was honored with the Office Best Interior Renovation Project Winner Award by the GRACRE. Key features of the award-winning design encompassed a blend of private and open-office environments within administrative spaces, complemented by shared support areas. These included meeting rooms for confidential discussions, as well as open and enclosed huddle rooms for collaborative team exchanges, along with several break rooms. The main cafeteria underwent a contemporary makeover and was strategically placed next to the exterior courtyard to provide extra seating. Moreover, a spacious Town Hall was crafted to accommodate full-staff meetings while offering the option to partition into smaller meeting spaces for enhanced adaptability.
